Located between south and mid-Wales, the Brecon Beacons National Park contains some of the most spectacular and distinctive upland formations in southern Britain. It was established in 1957, the third of the three Welsh National Parks after Snowdonia (1951) and the Pembrokeshire Coast (1952). It stretches from  Llandeilo in the west to Hay-on-Wye in the east, covering 519 square miles (1344 km²).

“Day Walks in the Brecon Beacons is the latest hill walking guidebook in the popular ‘Day Walks’ series from outdoors publisher Vertebrate Publishing, following guides to the Peak District, Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors, Snowdonia and South Downs. This pocket-sized guide features 20 circular routes between 6.8 and 16.5 miles (11km and 16.6km) in length, suitable for hill walkers of all abilities. The routes are split into four areas – Blorenge & The Black Mountains, The Brecon Beacons, Mynydd Llangatwg & Mynydd Llangynidr, Fforest Fawr and The Black Mountain. Local author and walker Harri Roberts shares his favourite walks in the region, including circuits in the hills around Llangors Lake, the Taf Fechan Skyline and Pen y Fan, and the Llanbedr Horseshoe. We display the Ordnance Survey `Explorer’ maps (the best that are commercially available) in standard quality, although the tougher all-weather type are also available. We also include the excellent AZ Adventure Map: as well as comprising the Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 mapping, it has an index an information on places.
