“At first appearance Bonsall, near Matlock, is a small quiet village, and indeed at night your sleep will be disturbed by nothing more than the hoot of an owl or lowing of a cow. In the daytime however you will find a huge range of activities with lots of walking paths following the old lead mining routes. Wonderful cycling along the trails and visits to the local attractions of Cromford Mills, The Heights of Abraham, Gullivers Kingdom The Tramway Museum at Crich and the magnificent houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Kedleston to name a few. The great thing is that nothing is very far away.
We have 2 great pubs in the village offering food and often music and other entertainment. There is also a wonderful cafe with a small deli – perfect for picking up a bottle of wine, lunch or the morning papers.
We have five individually decorated comfortable bedrooms which are all en-suite, with tea and coffee making facilities, digital free view LCD TV and hairdryer. There is one ground floor room that can either be a king-size double or twin bedded. There are some facilities in this room for disabled guests (please speak to us for details).”
Cooked breakast on Aga. Vegetarian option.

“Welcome to our wonderful little pub….the Barley Mow at Bonsall. The pub is over 200 years old, and is steeped in history and has many interesting stories to tell! Currently, it sees and sells itself as a small, quirky, boutique and fairly bohemian pub, with a great and well earned reputation for several things. A well kept and interesting range of real ales and cask ciders, generous portions of home-cooked and locally sourced food, an interesting, varied, friendly and welcoming gang of regulars, poetry nights, open mic nights, Film Night, French speaking club, Vinyl Nights, Jazz Nights, and the most amazing free and live music and entertainment. This is topped off with the kind of incredible atmosphere money simply cannot buy.”

“The Kings Head is at the heart of the picturesque Derbyshire Dales Village of Bonsall.
Built in 1649, the year that Charles 1 was be-headed, John Abel was the first owner of pub and the family ran it for a total of 100 years. Anthony and John Abel are reputed to be two of the ghosts that haunt the Pub!
Outside to the front of the pub is the Old Cross of Bonsall standing on 13 circular stone steps and to the rear is a beautiful patio with fantastic hanging baskets in the Spring and Summer.
The King’s Head is a quintessential old English pub and the Landlords Kathy and Charlie and the Team offer a warm welcome, excellent Ales and good, genuine, homemade food.”
