Dales Way accommodation

The Dales Way is a 78 mile walk between Ilkley in Yorkshire and Bowness on Windermere, Cumbria. In addition, there is a 20 mile Leeds to Ilkley link.
The Dales Way is a relatively easy walk, for the most part following rivers, and there is plenty of accommodation, pubs and other services at frequent intervals. For those thinking about doing their first long distance walk but are worried about the ongoing effect of day-on-day walking, this is the perfect path.
As can be seen from our Dales Way Services Table (below) the route passes through many Yorkshire Dales villages, and consequently there is plenty of accommodation, pubs and other services at frequent intervals.

Notes on Dales Way Accommodation

We display a wide range of accommodation type, e.g. B&B, Guest House, Hotel, Inn, Hostel, Self catering, camping, etc., but inevitably in some locations the Dales Way accommodation is limited. Not all accommodation will offer evening meals; this needs to be ascertained with the individual landlords. B&B (Bed and Breakfast) is almost always within the same house, farm, etc. as the people who run it. Guest Houses are usually expected to be grander than B&B, but are not necessarily so. Hotels are grander still, and with the expected higher cost, although there is a range of hotel quality. Hostels offer the most basic of accomodation above Bunk-House and Camping, and are therefore among the cheapest. Quite often some cleaning is required on the part of the resident.
We have included Camping, although there are relatively few official campsites. We advise telephoning the individual sites for info on facilities. Also, it may well be worth telephoning farmhouse B&B to enquire about camping. Please refer to the Dales Way Accommodation, Services and Mileage Table (below) for places visited along the route.
We are always looking to improve our information, and welcome updates and additions to our Dales Way accommodation listing.

Dales Way Restaurants and Pubs

Some ramblers will be content to stay in their B&B in the evening and relax. Others will want to explore the lovely Dales Way villages and towns and sample the pubs and restaurants. Luckily, many pubs serve good food, and at a reasonable cost. We have attempted to give as much information as possible on pubs and restaurants and their proximity to the Dales Way, especially regarding whether pubs serve real ale and/or food. Please refer to the Dales Way Accommodation, Services and Mileage Table (below) for places visited along the route, and click a location to open the page for that location, displaying details of pubs and restaurants.
Restaurants and pubs are notoriously changeable. Please let us know if our information is out of date. We especially welcome updates and additions.

Dales Way Public Transport

RambleFest displays of Dales Way public transport on the individual, relevant pages. We show details of train services at Ilkley, Burneside, Cowgill, Ribblehead, Staveley, and Windermere. Ilkley, especially, has bus services connecting to several other villages and towns along the Dales Way.
