“The Ram Inn has been at the heart of the vibrant farming community of Firle for over five hundred years. The rambling old brick and flint building has three main rooms, each with its own open fire lit every day between October and April. The old stable and coach house have been converted into a private dining room and outside ‘farmers bar’, and our splendid flint-walled garden is perfect for peaceful summer supping under the greengage trees.
We have 5 quirky, individual rooms above the pub. The rooms are spread across the pub and therefore across the centuries. They are all different shapes and styles and have been carefully furnished with a mixture of contemporary furniture and local antiques. You’ll find Egyptian cotton sheets and duck down duvets on the large comfortable beds and each room has a flat screen TV, armchairs and tea & coffee making facilities.
Everything on our menu is created in our own kitchen using local fresh seasonal ingredients. We are so lucky to be able to buy lamb and beef from Place Farm whose herds can be seen grazing in the park around Firle Place. Game comes from Firle Estate, most of our fish comes from Shoreham, and in the summer the Vicar goes fishing and brings us buckets of prawns and mackerel as well as tiny sweet wild strawberries and wild mushrooms from the Downs. Our bread is baked every day at Flint Owl bakery in Glynde.”
