– Vanguard Way: The Walk from East Croydon to Newhaven
“Two routes with a common aim, the Wealdway and the Vanguard Way, set out to walk to the sea. The Wealdway is an 82-mile long-distance footpath from Gravesend, on the edge of the Thames, east of London, to Beachy Head. The Vanguard Way is a 62-mile footpath from East Croyden to the coast at Seaford Head. Both walks traverse delightful countryside and offer much of interest, whether walked as a whole or in short sections. From Thames-side to clifftop, from suburbs to sea, in the Wealdway and the Vanguard Way we have two long-distance routes that traverse the country spreading south from London, and in so doing explore some of the finest landscapes in the south-east.”
– The Wealdway and the Vanguard Way: A Walker’s Guide
