Notes on Limestone Way Guidebooks

A Limestone Way guidebook published by Derbyshire Dales District Council includes a full description of the walk, including map sections and photos is available from Derbyshire Dales District Council for just £2.00 (inc p&p): Limestone Way Guidebook

“Discover the best of the beautiful ‘White Peak’ on a superb 46-mile walk across the heart of the Peak District National Park.  ‘The Limestone Way’, named after the rock which was formed 300 million years ago, is a waymarked long distance route with spectacular scenery and views from it’s start at Castleton in the Hope Valley to it’s end at Rocester in Staffordshire.  It passes through dramatic dales, a green rolling landscape and several picturesque villages – offering a choice of places to stop for refreshments and stay overnight along the way.”

The previous Limestone Way guidebook for the walk is no longer available, although we include it in the Amazon display above, as it will be available through third-parties. The maps within it are very basic, however, and we recommend buying the three Ordnance Survey maps. The route is marked by name on all the maps.

Limestone Way Maps

We display the three Ordnance Survey maps at 1:25,000 scale required for the whole route. We display the standard quality, although the tougher `all-weather’ type is also available. The Limestone Way is marked by name on all the maps. With these and the basic guidebook mentioned above, navigation should present no problems.

Ordnance Survey provide the service of online maps, which you can use on all your devices. Costs around £20 – £25 per year for all maps across the UK for a year. Great value. Click on the link:
