Shropshire Way
The Shropshire Way is essentially a 139-mile circular route with the option of a shorter route.
There is also an option of a Northern Extension.
The shorter circular route takes the more direct 13 mile route from Bridges to Craven arms, bypassing Bishops Castle and Clun, making this shorter circular walk 117 miles long in total.If walking just the circular walk, it makes sense for most people to start/finish the walk at Shrewsbury, as there are more travel options.

Shropshire Way Accommodation
Most of the Shropshire Way accommodation on our pages is on or very close to the path. For accommodation further afield we have tried to give distances from the Shropshire Way.
We have split accommodation into Hotels & Inns and Bed & Breakfast. While we realise many guest houses are as good as some hotel accommodation, in order to avoid confusion we have opted for the simpler option.
We are always looking to improve our Shropshire Way accommodation listing, and always welcome updates and additions.
Restaurants and Pubs
We have attempted to give as much information as possible, especially regarding whether pubs serve real ale and/or food. But restaurants and pubs are notoriously changeable. Please let us know if our information is out of date.
Shropshire Way Guidebooks & Maps
Guidebook
We recommend buying two different Shropshire Way guidebooks. One will supplement the other in terms of clarity, additional information, etc. The cost of the additional guidebook is very little compared to the cost of the walk.

Do not feel tempted to save money buying the 1:50,000 Ordnance Survey maps; they do not have anywhere near the same detail as the 1:25,000 scale maps, and do not show field boundaries.
