It is quite surprising that at the cross-point of the Pennine Way and Coast to Coast Walk there is relatively little accommodation and other facilities.
Those who cannot get accommodation here need to walk on to the Tan Hill Inn, four miles uphill, or 3 miles east along the Coast to Coast Walk `Royal' road alternative to Thwaite.
