46½ MILES ALONG THE CLEVELAND WAY FROM HELMSLEY, PLUS 2¼ MILES OFF ROUTE
Although off route, we have included Great Ayton as it has ample accommodation and refreshment places. It also has a railway station.
Those staying at Great Ayton overnight should leave the path at Captain Cook’s Monument [MAP].
The route can either be picked up again the following morning, or alternative paths taken from Great Ayton to Roseberry Topping (with the option of ascending it on the steeper side), and rejoining the CW at the top.
