Chiltern Way
The Chiltern Way main (or original) path is a circular walk of 133½ miles stating/finishing at Hemel Hempstead railway station. In addition, there is a Chiltern Way Southern Extension, and a Chiltern Way Northern Extension. There is plenty of accommodation at regular intervals, and also many pubs and restaurants, making it a good choice for those wishing to do a long-distance walk but have concerns about long stretches without a break. For a route map of the walk, refer to The Chiltern Society.
Not only do we show you where to find accommodation and places to eat and drink (click in table below), but we show the guidebooks and maps required, and make them available to buy online.

Chiltern Way Accommodation
We have split Chiltern Way accommodation into Hotel & Inn accommodation and Bed & Breakfast accommodation. We use the word `Inn' in its true sense of a pub which provides accommodation, rather than just a romantic name for a pub. Guest House accommodation is included with Bed & Breakfast. While we realise many guest houses are better than some hotels, in order to avoid confusion we have opted for the simpler option.
Please refer to the table below for accommodation and other services along the Chiltern Way.
We are always looking to improve our accommodation information, and welcome accommodation recommendations.
Chiltern Way Restaurants and Pubs
As mentioned above, there is plenty of stopping points along the Chiltern Way, whether for food or drink, and we have attempted to give as much information as possible on Chiltern Way pubs and restaurants, especially regarding pubs serving real ale and/or food. However, restaurants and pubs are notoriously changeable. Please let us know if our information is out of date.
Please refer to the table below for pubs, restaurants and other services along the Chiltern Way.
